An old man was playing basketball in a gymnasium with a young man in his early 20s. The older man was outmatched. The younger man taunted him saying things like, “You need to retire, grandpa. Give it up. Go take a nap.”
After the game when they were changing in the locker room the old man noticed the logo on the young man’s shirt. It was of a restaurant chain.
The old man said, “That reminds me; I need to eat.” The young man replied, “Did I beat you so bad you forgot to eat? You should come to my restaurant. I’ll give you the senior discount.”
“Maybe I will. Have a nice day,” said the old man.
“You remember to have one, too,” said the young man.
Later that day a big, fancy, luxury sedan pulled up to the restaurant where the young man worked. The young man was in the back on his lunch break.
The old man from the gym appeared from the back seat of the sedan.
The young man came back from his break and saw the old man. “Did you forget to eat again,” said the young man. “No. I ate at my other restaurant,” said the old man.
The young man looked confused.
The old man smiled.
The restaurant manager came out from the kitchen. “Hey, dad. How are you?” he says. The two men then went to the back office.
The young man, confused, kept working.
A few minutes later the old man came out and told the young man to have a nice day.
The young man asked the restaurant manager about the old man. “That’s my father. He just bought another restaurant,” he said.
“He said you met at one of is gyms.”
“One of his gyms?” exclaims the surprised young man.
“Yes. He says you’re really good at basketball.”
