Part Time Adult: Stories and Advice About Life
Welcome to Part Time Adult! This is a place where young adults can get some tips on how to conquer this thing called life.
What is life?
- Life is hard.
- Life is weird.
- Life is messy.
- Life is confusing.
- Life is expensive.
What is life not?
Life is not taught in school, and that’s why Part Time Adult is here.
Part Time Adult was created by me, Aurelio Mitjans.
Consider me your friend who’s been around the block. I’m just trying to let people know what’s around the corner.
Don’t get it twisted.
Many people think that life happens in a straight line. I want you to write down what I’m about to say.
The thought that life happens in a straight line is. …
Are you ready? Write this down.
C.
R.
A.
P.
C.R.A.P. is an acronym that stands for “Snap out of that fantasy.”
I know that’s not how acronyms work. Stay with me.
It’s crap. This is the truth.

A lot of folks think that when life doesn’t happen in that straight line that they’re failures.
I was there. Then I realized that the straight line is a myth. Sure. some people might have fewer twists and turns than others, but they all have twists and turns.
How did we get here?
After spending a decade working with young adults learning the game of life, I realized that no one is equipped with the tools to get the hang of it all. I came across people of all sorts of backgrounds who had so many questions. I found myself answering many of those questions.
I feel like I became a de facto life coach. Mind you, I never thought I had all of the answers, but I found that I had a lot of them. More often than not, young adults let me know that our conversations were really useful to them. Some called it therapeutic. Some said it was better than therapy.
I won’t give myself that much credit, but it’s nice to know that I was helpful, and that’s what fuels me.
I later found that I was getting that same feedback from really grown folks who were trying to figure life out as well. Some were my age and even older.
I had questions of my own and still do.
I want you to know that I’m right there with you.
Who is this for?
Part Time Adult is here to help young adults—and those a bit more. … Seasoned—figure this life thing out. Learning never stops, and useful information should be shared with anyone who can benefit from it. Parents, aunts, uncles, friends, cousins, play-cousins, grandparents, etc., are all invited.
What’s in it for you?
Smart and entertaining content designed to inspire, and guide you. … Maybe even make you laugh a little every now and then.
We’ll talk about money, relationships, professional development, mental health (but not like therapy, just getting your mind right), holy-crap-that-actually-happened stories, successes, fails and much more.
I’ve got more than a few of those fails to share with you.
Aside from hand-crafted, organic, keto, paleo, gluten-free words meant to engage, educate, and lift people up, I might share stories like that time in college when I saw “her.”
Or this. …
Or this. …

I might take the words of your favorite rapper or in this case, the late great emcee/producer J-Dilla’s lyrics, and give him a second job based on what his lyrics say.
What’s valued around here?
Being of service and personal development.
What’s your mission?
To improve your personal and professional life. … Because life isn’t taught in school.
It can be summed up in this one post below.

This is a labor of love and experience. I really hope you think this Web site doesn’t suck. I hope you get at least one thing from it that’s useful.
Let’s figure this thing out together.
You have no idea how much I appreciate the fact that you are here. If you have any questions or suggestions, don’t ever hesitate to reach out. You can also connect on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I’m hoping to put more work into those platforms with time. Anyway.
You are always welcome here.
Come along for the ride.
Life is bumpy. Bring a helmet.

Thanks, again, for stopping by.
